Iceland Day 19
Our last full day in Iceland! Let’s start with one last waterfall, completely different than any others we’ve seen.
Hraunfossar is a series of waterfalls formed by rivulets streaming over a distance of about 900 metres out of the lava field Hallmundarhraun that pour into the Hvítá river from ledges of less porous rock in the lava. Hallmundarhraun consists of pillow lava and is believed to have been formed in 800 AD.
We then returned to Reykjavik and took a walk after dropping off the rental car. First stop: a view from the tower at Hallgrímskirkja church.
Note the weather? It’s lovely, now that we’re leaving.
These pics of the Harpa concert hall don’t do it justice.
Then a final lovely dinner at Fiskmarkaðurinn (Fish Market), for which you will have to use your imagination.
